Continuation of the Jeep Muster story...

01 October 2007, Monday

A great day yesterday for all of us. JOCWA did a great job setting up the facility. For next year's Jamboree they need more
people to marshall all areas, but besides that the Oz Jeepers are up for a great Jamboree. The tracks around Harvey are just
great - yes I know I said that before - but the mud, ruts, steep hills and rocks are just fantastic. At the end of the event today I
spoke to Steve again and afterwards also to the Gang and I hope that they will work together for next year's Jamboree to
make it worthwhile for everybody in Oz to come to Perth. In the morning, we still had trips on the agenda but we only stayed
at the Commonage to talk to a few people and made our way back to Perth before lunch. Today was mainly playing around
the obstacles before the people headed off home or went on a couple of trips. The ramp was tried and it was funny to see the
Gang guys trying it without knowing much about it. I tried to explain a little bit on how the best scores are achieved, but it was
just a fun event and not part of the competition. My car did well and scored over a thousand again with the left rear tyre being
lower than the ramp, so not bad. At the end of the day back home with Rodge and we started our Perth sightseeing and went
to Burns Beach for the sunset - great sight and now we know why this part of the coast is called the sunset coast. Below are
the pictures of the day.
Vic was the first one trying the most difficult exit and
digged a big hole with his Simex tyres - they are really
good or dig themselves in.
Ken going the easier way out and on the right you can
see the two holes from Vic, Aaron and Dave trying the
other exit.
Everybody thought that the exit will need to be
conquered next year at the Jamboree when Brian in his
CJ came and took a slightly other line and made it up.
Vic walked immediately to his car and went again - high
revs, Simex power and a different line made it possible.
See how much stuff the Simex move out of the way -
they destroy everything, but they also get you much
further down the track...
Obviously the others could not let that stand like that -
Aaron was next and made it up with a slight kick at the
end which we thought brought him very close to the
trees.
Dave said, no I am not going - until I said just one
sentence to him and he took of in his car to not be left
alone. He made it up also. All Simex power.
See the difference - they are both on 35's - Dave on the
left and Vic on the right. Dave's TJ has a high fender
conversion which allows him to fit 35's with inly a 2" lift
kit. Build for competition - nice vehicle.
After a nice day of competition we all joined again
around the fire. Above the Entrance to our campsite
and on the right the neon sign from the Gang - Nice !!!
Vic, trying the ramp. Rodge and myself were the only
ones doing the pressure trick on the ramp and diagonal
tyre.
Dave at the ramp, the main issue was that they did not
drive in an angle and mostly were stopped by the rear
tyre going up the ramp.
