Today we took a day off and just went to the pool and packed up for an early start tomorrow. Besides that a normal but stupid and at the end expensive situation developed. German fair skin is not used to the Australian sun and a severe sunburn developed on my skin - mainly the part which had not seen much sun up to now - belly, shoulders and upper part of my arms. The sunburn will be so severe as I have not experienced before - at least, I can not remember even when I get it almost every time I go into the sun unprepared for too long. Well anyway, we packed up and prepared for our trip to Kununurra or better towards Kununurra tomorrow - with pain. No pictures from the lazy day... Note: Oliver did not want to move to the shaded area with me when the sun started hitting on the place where we were so the sunburn was all his own fault!!!

Will we make it to Kununurra in one day? 825 km's from Jabiru to Kununurra is a long way and we are towing. The sunburn was the reason why I was very slow in the morning and even getting up at 6 am meant leaving at around 8.30 am from Jabiru. The next 500 km's would be very boring. Woodland from Jabiru all the way to the VRD (Victoria River District) along the Victoria Highway. The car went well from the start - we stayed at around 80-90 km/h to save some fuel and also to make it more enjoyable rather than driving 100-110 km/h and always stabilising the Monster Truck and Trailer. When we came to the VRD the landscape finally changed and now we had some mountains and the Boab Trees started soon afterwards - great trees !!! The fuel economy seemed to be really going well and we pushed on, knowing the time would be changed at the border by 1.5 hours and that would mean we would arrive sometime around 6.00 pm. A short stop at the border to WA for quarantine check and we gave them the rest of our honey which we could not eat before. All other stuff was o.k. and off we went the last 40 km's to Kununurra at sunset. Obviously with the time change it still gets dark at around 6.30 pm NT time which means now around 5 pm in the afternoon or shortly after in WA. We arrived in Kununurra finally, after 825 km's driving, and at the end, we actually got 600 km's out of our tank (including the long range addition) which is pretty good for towing. We wanted to check into the Big4 Caravan Park and book a cabin rather than setting up the trailer (mainly due to my sunburn - which is killing me). All booked out !!! At the end we stayed in the Country Club Hotel in Kununurra for one night and booked already for the next night into the Big4 Ivanhoe Resort. The sunburn was hurting very much and an early night was the result which also was short... Again no pictures taken during the day - mainly driving.
